Aeromoe's Version of Joe Orman's Naked-Eye 100 List

Number 95: International Space Station

Below is my list of International Space Station sightings. At first, all of my satellite sightings were consolidated on this page;
later I segregated the Iridium Flares and other satellites to their own pages.

For most of the sightings, the Altitude / Azimuth entry is the "maximum altitude" prediction, although I usually watch the ISS pass for as long as possible.

Prediction data courtesy Heavens Above, and Cal Sky.
Magnitude and Altitude / Azimuth shown are data as predicted for my specific location at the time.
Arizona is on MST all year because Daylight Savings Time is not observed.

Please scroll down past the table to see a few photos of the ISS passing over my viewing locations.

The left-most image above from the Heavens Above Website shows the orbit re-boost that took place during early June 2011.
This accounts for the minor timing discrepancies I noted during observations on the 12/13 June 2011.

Also take note of the considerably higher orbit now that Space Shuttle missions are no longer a factor.

From my vantage, the International Space Station passed southwest to northeast (R-to-L) near the Hyades and below the Pleaides on the morning of August 3rd, 2010.
This photo has been converted to grayscale so all star colors have been rendered as white.

The ISS made a nice morning twilight flyby on September 29, 2010. The 12-second exposure below shows the space station near Orion, with the waning gibbous moon, Aldebaran and the Hyades cluster visible as well.

The ISS made a nice morning twilight flyby on October 2, 2010. The 24-second exposure below shows the space station moving from southwest to northeast. Cassiopiea is out of frame to the upper left.
