Not too much longer after booking my roundtrip PHX-DEN trip did I get the notion to try and find a 757-300 flight I could work into the equation. As it turned out United did have a 757-300 flight to SFO available an hour or so after my flight from PHX would arrive. Depsite the relatively high fare I decided to book it. With a flight on Frontier back to Denver available just after dark I would end up spending the day watching planes at SFO versus DEN...not a bad tradeoff.

Thankfully the weather in San Francisco was also very nice this last day of 2016 and I was able to watch planes from the International Terminal much like I did during my Thanksgiving week trip.

Below are some photos of some of the planes I saw at SFO.

At about 2pm I noticed a Hawaiian Air A330 departing Oakland off in the distance. I did a check on what flight this could be and it turned out to be a flight to Denver. Seeing as Hawaiian Air is the airline the Oakland Raiders use for charters this made sense. I then remembered the final Denver Broncos game of the 2016 season was in fact against the Raiders in Denver on January 1st...tomorrow...and I' d be in Denver! A further search of the web confirmed tickets were available for a modest price since Denver was not in the playoffs. A call to my sister in Denver confirmed she would like to go to the game so I bought us a couple tickets using my phone. We were all set.

Below is my very distant photo of N379HA departing OAK before turning east for Denver. Below that is a link to the FlightRadar24 page showing that flight plus a few others operated by N379HA during the time.

After a nice day of watching planes, it was time to head over to Terminal 1 for my Frontier Airlines flight to DEN. The wait at TSA was nearly non-existant so I pretty much breezed through. I decided to get a bread bowl of chowder and set up by the window so I could watch planes for the little while it would still be daylight.

Before long it was dark and I was tracking my inbound Frontier flight on my phone.
