Number 9: Solar Transit of Mercury

Transit of 9 May 2016

Sunrise today was at 0533hrs Local Time. I ventured out of the house to a location where I would have a clearer view of the horizon than from my yard. There are some small mountains along the eastern horizon so I had to wait until the sun rose above them to begin observing.

Transit of 11 November 2019

Sunrise today was at 0657hrs Local Time. Once again I ventured out of the house to a location where I would have a clearer view of the horizon than from my yard. There are a lot of power lines in the distance but observing sunrise through them was not a big deal.

I took some photos during sunrise and for a few minutes afterwards until the sun disappeared behind a low bank of clouds. I went home and set up in my driveway to continue viewing unti the end of the event.
