After arriving Boston from Atlanta I caught the Silver Line bus to Boston South Station and waitied around for an Amtrak train trip I booked to kill some time. I did a round-trip from Boston to Providence, Rhode Island then settled into the station for the night to wait for my 7am Amtrak train to Newark, New Jersey. Thankfully it was a little warmer in the station than earlier in the evening but it was still fairly cold as well as difficult to try and get sleep through the night.
I woke up some time in the morning and went into the Amtrak ticket office to have a paper copy printed out. While talking to the agent I convinced myself to ride the Acela Express all the way to Newark Penn Station instead of just to Providence as originally booked. It was a significant fare increase over what I'd already paid for both segments but I figured it would be fun to ride the Acela Express all the way.
We departed Boston on time and after a few stops enroute we arrived Newark Penn Station pretty much on time. I had to change trains to a New Jersy Transit commuter train for the short 4-minute hop down the line to Newark Liberty Airport station, and it cost $8 for the privilege, but I got there with hours to spare until my flight to LAX was scheduled to depart at 6pm.
After riding the Air Train to the terminal and going through TSA I made my way to the spot in United's terminal I spent some hours at in December prior to my flight to Singapore. Weather was pretty decent for plane watching, especially the last hour or two with lower sun angle and some actual sunshine on the planes.
