Second TDY trip this year and it's to Portland, Oregon. Originally we were scheduled to go to Key West, FL for a couple weeks but the hurricane that swept through the Keys put the kibash on those plans.
Instead of booking us all on a convenient non-stop flight between Phoenix and Portland, our company decides to get the least expensive tickets possible and books us on a connecting service via San Francisco. It was the new Basic Economy fare on United which doesn't offer seat selection...bummer.
Fires north of the San Francisco Bay area were affecting operations at SFO so our flight was summarily delayed departing PHX.
