I made last-minute plans a couple days ago to fly aboard Virgin America's new A321neo (new engine option) service from San Francisco to Washington DC. I decided to use a combination of Alaska and Frontier miles for this trip so I'd only have to pay the service fees. The cost for a First Class seat is only 25,000 miles...a relative bargain for coast-to-coast in a premium cabin.

After arriving SFO the previous evening I spent the night in the terminal. I found a place to lay down and charge the phone in the walkway between two of the terminals. Dawn broke cloudy and I found Virgin America A321neo N921VA parked at gate 51A. I had to use the head really bad and when I returned to get a photo of the plane at the gate, a Virgin America A320 had been parked at a gate that mostly obscured the view. Oh well.

The windows in the Virgin America terminal are covered with small dots so getting nice photos through the windows is nearly impossible. Reasonable photos can be made and that's what I settled for.

Below is my photo of N921VA "neo kid on the block" at gate 51A.

Breakfast was served up as we crossed the Nevada/Utah border. Main dish is a frittata with diced potatoes and sliced sausage. Assorted fruit and a croissant round out the meal. I thought it was quite tasty.
