While at Denver I sussed out a relatively cheap round trip to O'Hare. I originally booked two flights on Frontier and wrongly assumed the flights would be operated by the same aircraft.
Only after I made the booking did I realize that wasn't the case and my connection time was going to be quite tight...in fact I might not make it.

So I checked other options and came up with a Spirit Airlines flight departing a couple hours earlier. Perfect...and I'd have a couple hours of daylight at ORD to do some plane watching.

The flight to O'Hare was operated by N609NK...my first duplication of a Spirit A320. It arrived from LAX on time and soon enough I was boarding for the flight to O'Hare.

As it turned out we had to fly a diversion track around some heavy weather in between Denver and Chicago. Check out the Flight Aware screenshot below my photo of N609NK at O'Hare.

We taxied out to runway 34L for departure...at ORD we land on 9L. We had quite a lengthy taxi to Concourse L and gate L9 where we parked.

My Frontier Airlines flight back to DEN was operated by N712FR "Spot The Jaguar"...a plane I'd flown on a couple times before. It arrived right on time and soon enough we were boarding for DEN.

Below is my photo of N712FR arriving ORD for my flight 1285 to DEN.

Below is a Plane Finder screenshot of my flight from O'Hare to Denver. There is no Flight Aware entry for this flight...it is blocked from public view for some reason.

Like the flight from DEN to ORD, we had to divert to the North for weather. The screenshot shows my flight on base leg to DEN and also shows a few other Frontier planes on the screen.
I had the Frontier "filter" activated so those were the only flights showing up onscreen.

After arriving Denver we taxied the length of A Concourse from East to West and did a 180 and pulled in behind N713FR to wait for an open gate. In fact we ended up waiting almost a full hour before our gate opened up. Thankfully I didn't have a connecting flight...not sure others onboard were as fortunate. A few days later I received an e-mail from Frontier granting me a $50 credit for the inconvenience of sitting on the ramp at DEN for an hour. Not bad...now Frontier is paying ME to sit on their planes!
